  • (Note: I couldn't find a tv-size off-vocal, so had to make my own by cropping the full-size I found. The official tv-size version has an extra instrument to 'finish it off', which I wasn't able to put in, so there is an inaccuracy in this regard. I don't think it's too bad though, I hope. In case you want it, it is here.)

I will note, however, a major change. With all due humility, I have to admit that some of my vowel transliteration choices thus far were suboptimal.
Specifically, I was transcribing औ as ⟨ao⟩. This ends up being ambiguous due to the presence of genuine vowel clusters like अउ. I should make that ⟨ao⟩ instead, which means a better choice for औ is ⟨au⟩, as it is often found in most transcriptions (and even pronounced in some dialects, with historical precedent behind it). A similar case is to be made to update my convention for ऐ from ⟨ae⟩ to ⟨ai⟩. I thought I had come up with something clever, and it turns out I was just being stupid and people had a good reason for doing what they did. A lesson has been learnt!

Lyrics:

niind meN na kho jao tum, jaago aur aao yahaN
isi waqt isi dam hai har pal, aaj kal[1]
gol dunya phir ke aagaye ho phir tum yahaN hi
phir bhi lekin, jaisa bhi din, khona mat kabhi bhi
dil ka KHayaal, dil ki pukaar, mat bhuulna kabhi bhi[2]

dil se KHushi bhare, wo jo din the wo
pata bhi nahi chala, kab tabaah ho gaye
hamesha naam ki chiiz, kahiN na milegi
aur kho chuki huN ummiid, phir se "KHud" banne ki
agar kabhi jaante hi na the, zindagi yuN hi jiite,
kahiN na kahiN sukuun milta tha kya?[3]

niind meN na kho jao tum, jaago aur aao yahaN
isi waqt isi dam hai har pal, aaj kal
gol dunya phir ke aagaye ho phir tum yahaN hi
phir bhi lekin, jaisa bhi din, khona mat kabhi bhi
dil ka KHayaal, dil ki pukaar, mat bhuulna kabhi bhi

Translation notes:

[1]This line is a tricky one, and I've seen some conflicting takes. Animesonglyrics translates it as "Now and now, whenever this moment may be". A lyric video on youtube has "Now and now and this very moment, always". I'm interpreting it as "These days, every single moment is such that you have to focus just on the present", or in other words, things are busy and there's no time for grieving nor worrying. To make it slightly more periphrastic in the original, "ima to ima ga ima wa itsu datte" ↦ "ima wa, itsu datte, 'ima to ima' desu." This may not be the right choice, but it's mine. I would love to hear an explanation/opinion from someone who really knows what they're doing, though.

[2]The original refers to the 'shape of the heart', which I assume is idiomatic. The idea is what your heart is telling you. To fill in the syllables I wrote two related phrases that echo each other for a strong-sounding effect.

[3]I wish I could've found something to rhyme here. Alas.
